100 Studio Jamaica

The 100 Studio vision was fully realized in 2005. Founded by Wilburn Squidly Cole, 100 Studio is an independent recording studio featuring an excellent blend of roots reggae culture and dancehall music from both seasoned musicians and the best of Jamaica's up and coming talent. Thoughout Squidly's musical career, he has perfected his producing skills under the guidance of Jamaica's most celebrated and award winning reggae producers and recording studios.

100 Studio has access to numerous talented reggae veterans from Jamaica, including: Squidly Cole, Bongo Herman, Dia Ferran, Christopher Meredith, AxeMan, Beezy Coleman, Lamar Brown (aka Riff Raff) Carol Bowie McClaughlin, Dean Fraser, Andrew Mr. Bassman, Andrew Manning, Sticky Thompson, Obeah, Phanso, Dalton Browne, Fire House Crew, Everroll Wray, Andrew Manning, Freddy Fatstring, and Sidney Mills.

Squidly Cole's debut album, Babylon Days, is full of twelve wonderful songs about every day life with Roots Reggae, Dancehall, and Hip Hop flavors.

Wilburn "Squidly" Cole is a world renowned reggae musician hailing from the Trenchtown section of Kingston, Jamaica. In 1980, Squidly made his debut in the reggae music business at the young age of 13 when he played his first hit song "Black Black Roses" with Barrington Levy for Channel One Studio. By age 14, Earl "Chinna" Smith arranged an audition between Squidly and famed reggae Artist, Jimmy Cliff, resulting in a world tour with Jimmy Cliff and the Oneness band to Europe and Africa.

Squidly credits his mother, Pauline Shaw and father, StrangeJah Cole for helping to shape his musical career at such an early age. Musical talent runs deep in Squidly's family. His father, StrangeJah Cole is a living legend from the Ska and Rocksteady Era of the 1960/70s, who is credited with writing the first reggae song, "Bangarang" as well as several other greatest hits including: "When you call my name", "Ruff & Tuff", and "Give Me The Right". Squidly's uncle is none other than Donald "Tabby Diamond" Shaw, lead singer of the super harmony trio, The Mighty Diamonds. Their classic hits, "Pass the Coche", "I Need A Roof" and "When The Right Time Come" continue to be Jamaica's dancehall anthems.

Squidly has had a successful career as a singer, songwriter, producer, and drummer. For many years, Squidly has been well known for his musical association with the Marley family. In 1987 he recorded on Ziggy Marley's Conscious Party, which reached platinum sales while also winning a Grammy that year for Best reggae recording. Squidly also recorded on the successful follow up album, One Bright Day, a gold album. After touring for several years with Dub Poet Mutabaruka, Squidly joined Ziggy's backing band, The Grammy award winning Melody Makers consisting of several of reggae's most talented musicians: Sticky Thompson, Franklyn "Bubbler" Waul, Earl "Chinna" Smith, Christopher Meredith, and the Ethiopian reggae band Dallol. Over a ten year period of recording and touring with Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, Squidly also played and produced on numerous collector items, including many Grammy winning albums. In 1992, Squidly proved his early producing skills on Damian Marley's first hit track 'Me Name Jr. Gong" on Damian's debut album Mr. Marley. The single "Me name Jr. Gong" was a smash hit, selling more than 100,000 copies in Hawaii alone. Squidly also recorded "Arm your Soul" on Julian Marley's album , Lion in the Morning in 1996.

Another important milestone in Squidly's producing credits came in 1998 when at the request of Stephen Marley, he co-produced with Christopher Meredith on Lauryn Hill and Rebel Music's remixed duet with Bob Marley on "Turn Your Lights Down Low" for Chant Down Babylon, an album in which famous Marley songs were remixed with contemporary artists. The album achieved platinum sales and the track, "Turn Your Lights Down Low", was released as the most successful single and music video on that album. Squidly then went on to record on Lauryn Hill's solo debut, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill , "When it Hurts so Bad", a favorite hit off the Grammy award winning album.

Throughout his extensive career, Squidly has continued to collaborate with many of the finest musicians from Jamaica and abroad on many world tours, chart-topping hits and Grammy Award winning albums. Most recently, Squidly has been performing with Stephen Marley and has just wrapped up an extensive 2007 US tour in support of Stephen's solo debut and Grammy winning album, Mind Control.

StrangeJah Cole, living legend of the Ska and Rocksteady Era releases latest Album, Lucky Dog

Wilburn Theodore Cole well known as StrangeJah Cole (formerly Stranger Cole) was born in 1945 in Kingston, Jamaica. StrangeJah is an early pioneer of Reggae in Jamaica. This powerful singer and songwriter, whose family has a long tradition as musicians, started his career a long time before the ska-rhythm was even known. Therefore, it is no surprise that the first Reggae song ever recorded was written by StrangeJah Cole: The song “Bangarang” hit the Jamaica charts in 1968. StrangeJah was just as successful as a solo artiste as he was in several popular duos: Stranger & Gladdy (Gladstone Anderson), Stranger & Ken (Ken Boothe), and Stranger & Patsy (Millicent Todd). His first of the twelve Number One Songs was a solo recorded in 1962, “Ruff & Tuff" – just when Jamaica gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Among his other hits were “When You Call My Name”, “Just Like A River”, “Down By The Train Line”, “Give Me The Right”, “Come Back”, “World’s Fair”, “Artibella”, “Uno, Dos, Tres”, “Pretty Cottage”, “In And Out The Window” (interpreted by Monty Morris) or “Sugar Plum” (interpreted by Owen Gray and Millie Small.) As a pioneer of Reggae, Cole supported the first recordings of other artistes like Ken Boothe and The Mighty Diamonds. He brought The Techniques and I Jahman Levi to the famous company of Duke Reid. With the Skatalites he has old ties of friendship. On Cole’s records you can find additional famous names like Baba Brooks, Delroy Wilson, Lester Sterling, Johnny “Dizzy” Moore, Byron Lee, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sonia Pottinger, Bunny "Striker" Lee, Derrick Morgan, Tommy McCook, Don Drummonds, and The Wailers Band.

In the 70’s and 80’s StrangeJah Cole spent some time in England, Canada, and the USA before he returning to his home in Jamaica. While in Canada, Stranger released three albums on his own label, The First Ten Years of Stranger Cole (1978), Captive Land (1980), and the Patriot (1982). In 2003, Trojan Records released Bangarang, The Best of Stranger Cole 1962- 1972, This double-cd is considered to be the essential collection of this living legend's greatest work from the Ska and RockSteady Era of the 1960/1970s. In 2006, StrangeJah also released Morning Train on the Jah Shaka Music Label.

Currently, StrangeJah is living in Kingston and continues his successful recording legacy with his son, Wilburn "Squidly" Cole, Executive Producer of PMR - Portmore Recording. StrangeJah's latest album release is Lucky Dog, featuring a modern compilation of Reggae and Rocksteady grooves. Lucky Dog is produced and arranged by Wilburn "Squidly" Cole. 100 Studio releases Here am Coming, Kid Cole's long awaited debut album

Patrick Buchanan aka "Kid Cole" was born in Manchester, Jamaica. Kid Cole moved to the UK at the age of thirteen and was introduced to Paul "Shine Head" Foster of Island Records. Easily recognizing Kid Cole's musical talent, Foster produced Kid Cole's first singles "Big Things a Gwan" and Respect is Due". After focusing on his scholastic demands, Kid returned to Jamaica in 2002 to resume his musical career.

His new alliance with 100 Studio will showcase his long awaited debut album, Here am Coming. Two singles have already been released by 100 Studio: "Things Could Be Better", and "Life Is For More Than You Alone". The music video, a 100 Studio and Kid Cole production of "Life Is For More Than You Alone" was filmed in downtown Kingston depicts everyday life and is dedicated to all the people of the world. Wendia Rowe,known simply as Wendia, was born in 1987 in Trewlany, Jamaica. Wendia , a natural talent, has been singing since the young age of 14. Natesha Harrriott aka Dornia has been singing since the age of 16 and has quickly blossomed into a mature young singer. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica and now based in Portmore, Dornia is the premier artiste to watch. So hot on the mike, she has a beautiful nostalgic voice with a versatile range from lovers rock to dancehall. Dornia is now working under the guidance of seasoned reggae veterans at 100 Studio on her debut album. Her single "U Got It All Wrong"', which has just been released is already generating a lot of radio buzz and the critics are taking notice of this dancehall lovers artiste, DORNIA.

Roshain McDonald more commonly known as Shane-O is a young talented DJ from Kingston. Shane-O is well known as an entertaining performer at many major shows across Jamaica including performances at Sumfest and Sting. His manager, Jah Snowcone introduced him to the music scene at 100 Studio and he has recently recorded "Life is Difficult", his first track with 100 Studio. Shane-O remains very popular in the Jamaican dancehall arena. Yu dunno - he's HOT!
